Feb 25 – Principals of Food and Wine Pairing
One of our most-popular and most-requested wine workshops!
In this two-hour interactive session, you will taste your way through four premium wines, each paired to specific flavours. This session is open to all levels of wine knowledge. Sommelier Erin Henderson leads you through the minefields of spicy, sweet and bitter, and you'll learn the tools to safely navigate your way to gastronomic success. After the workshop, put your newly acquired skills to the test with a selection of delicious bites.

1. Should I eat dinner before the wine tasting?
Well, if you ask us, we're always hungry so that would be an enthusiastic yes. We do set out a cheeseboard before the tasting for you to enjoy and share with fellow class mates over a glass of welcome wine. After the tasting ends, somewhere between 8-8:30 p.m., we offer a selection of light bites, but that's a long time to go with out eating — at least for us.
2. Is there parking nearby?
There is no parking onsite, but plenty of Green Ps around the building. Vantage Venues is at 150 King St. W., right above the St. Andrew's subway station, on the King streetcar line, and a block north of Union Station.
Please do not drink and drive. As the venue is in the heart of downtown, there are plenty of easy-to-access transportation options. So there's really no need to drive, right?
3. Are there refills on wine?
We like how you think, but sadly, no. We strive to keep these wine tastings as economical as possible (and take a look a round, we've done a pretty good job, if we do say so ourselves), so we offer a proper tasting amount of 2 oz per person, per wine, plus a glass of welcome wine to start the evening. There are plenty of outstanding bars and restaurants nearby so you can continue your private studies just minutes away.
4. Can I bring a friend and pay at the door?
Nope. We don't have an onsite payment system. As well, we need to have an accurate count ahead of time to ensure we have enough wine and food for everyone.
5. What food is served?
Super delicious food! The creative chefs at Vantage Venues change it up every class to match our themes. However, there are always vegan and gluten-free options. We publish the menu closer to the class date.
6. I'm just a beginner. Are the classes appropriate for me?
Yes! Our classes are easy-going and fun. You'll learn, laugh and taste. We've hosted everyone from newbies to wine enthusiasts who have travelled the world's wine regions. And, so far, our survey results indicate everyone has loved the workshops and learned something new. #humblebrag
