24 hours in Toronto with Andi Petrillo

May 25, 2019

If Andi Petrillo is going to go out, the place has got to be good. She says her favourite spot is the west-end home she shares with her husband, TFC Goalkeeper Coach Jon Conway, and her dog Pepper. So it’s totally understandable that if you want to get her to leave her sanctuary, you’ve got your work cut out for you. (Trust me, I’ve tried.) But there’s a reason for her hermit behaviour: the sports broadcasting star is always working. Monday to Friday she hosts TSN’s popular radio call-in show, Leafs Lunch. On weekends she’s hard at work at CBC hosting Road to the Olympic Games. (She’s hosted and led coverage for multiple Olympics including Sochi and Pyeongchang.) She will also fill in at the hosting desk for soccer and hockey coverage. And this just in: she will be part of the team — and the only female — hosting the newly created OneSoccer, a channel broadcasting Canadian Premier League and Championship games. — Erin Henderson

Favourite neighbourhood? Bloor West Village. Great shopping and restaurants.

How about something arty? Art Square Cafe and Gallery across from the AGO. Amazing sweet and savoury crepes and art work on the walls you can purchase!

Favourite dinner spot? There’s a little family owned Korean restaurant in the west end on The Queensway called Cha Ban. Great food and friendly service. Not a flashy restaurant but it gets the job done of satisfying your belly!

Best ice cream? Not Your Mother in Vegandale.

Favourite cocktail? Dark n’ Stormy, even on a sunny day :-).

Take out? Chutneys Fine Indian Cuisine on Bloor in the west end. Fantastic Indian food. I’m always down for a good Saag Paneer!
